SA champ breaks record over transatlantic
On February 15, 2017 at 12:00pm, Chris Bertish, internationally acclaimed Speaker, Big Wave Surfer and Guinness SUP World Record Holder, set a new world record for his 24-hour solo, unsupported and unassisted, open ocean distance of 50.03nm.
Chris’ journey began two weeks ago when he launched his stand-up paddle craft, the IMPFish, from the North West coast of Morocco with the impossible dream of becoming the first waterman to cross the Atlantic Ocean, one stroke at a time, solo and unassisted on a stand-up paddleboard. In this spirit of holiday giving, Chris is giving everything he has to raise awareness and funds for underprivileged children throughout Africa.
This was achieved on his specialized craft, the ImpiFish, which is 6 meters long (just under 20ft).
This is the 3rd World Record that Chris has achieved on this epic and unparalleled ocean adventure.
