South African retailer, Pick n Pay, throws a spectacular party at the Knysna Oyster Festival. Every year, hundreds and thousands of socialites, fishermen, foodies and media members travel to the Garden Route to experience the fantastic wildlife, gourmet cuisine and fun-filled atmosphere. In the aftermath of the Knysna fires, the organisers have confirmed that the festival will go ahead as planned, and that this year the driver is to help rebuild Knysna.

The festival’s official website also confirms that the full 10-day programme will be adhered to. Not only is this an outstanding display of social responsibility by and between South Africans, but it is also a testament to that signature fighting spirit for which the country is renowned. Offering up a wide range of comedy skits, live music and fresh foodie heaven, the 2017 edition is calling on South Africans to have a good time for a great cause.

While the festival’s namesake takes after one of the strongest economic builders of Knysna, the activities offer something for every family to enjoy. A full range of kids’ activities are included as well as the Maserati Big5 Challenge which gives athletes a reason to join in the fun, too. The organisers are so enthused to have you with them, they even go all out to help point out the best travel and accommodation deals!

There’s really no reason to not get going. If you’ve always wondered what it’s like, now’s the chance to jump in and head down to Knysna for the best time the town has to offer. Don’t forget: this time your presence also helps rebuild the glory of Knysna after the devastation of the blazes. Let’s keep the South African spirit going strong, shall we?
