India: a cardboard revolution

Browse By

Rural India, much like rural South Africa, experiences difficulty in accessing resources and support structures. Marketing specialists at DDB India, along with NPO Aarambh, are working hard to change this.

Schools without adequate furniture, such as desks and chairs, have become beneficiaries of a programme which transforms cardboard into fully functional desks-come-backpacks. At a production cost of only 20 rupees per unit, this nifty creation has sparked hope among hundreds of students who now have desks to write on and bags to keep their books safe.

The product, labelled Help Desk, has already made a significant difference in the lives of students, and may see pass rates increasing with time, as students no longer have to experience extreme difficulty while working.
