That’s right! Lionesses of Africa has been working hard to promote South African businesswomen in Berlin, Germany. The result of the team’s incredible efforts now include offers for South Africa’s most hungry lionesses to enter their ‘tech-preneurial’ ventures into a sensational contest!
In an official statement, via a blog post on 21 June 2017, Lionesses of Africa (LoA) confirmed that Berlin’s venture capitalists were seeking South African businesswomen worthy of investment. The offer comes, primarily, from multi-million dollar global corporate: Vodafone. Impact Hub Berlin (IHB) is also closely involved in constructing an appealing offer to Africa’s future female business moguls, pushing the stakes higher than ever before.
As with any contest, there are guidelines related to who is eligible for participation. LoA and IHB are looking for impact-driven ventures which use technology to empower girls and/or women in any operational industry (ranging from healthcare to mining to the arts). In addition to this, the applicants need to provide proof of a solid business concept and display a ‘more-than-profit’ business model.
What would this gauntlet be worth, one might ask…
- A stipend of €12k (approx. R170k) for living and travel costs
- Unique access to Vodafone and its investor network
- 100% personalised curriculum from the Social Entrepreneurship Akademie
- Corporate partnership with Vodafone, including access to its technology and global research teams
- A dedicated and experienced business mentor
